Hello!

Windows 8 does support USB CDC.  One needs an INF to install CDC on any flavor of Windows.  The big trouble with Win 8 is that the OS security is enhanced (Microsoft word, not mine)
Unless the INF is digital signed, it will not be installed in Win 8. The method is to change the Win8 startup properties to allow installation of unsigned drivers:
